Default lizard skin

I've read some reviews and searched around here in some old posts. Any body use this stuff lately and want to share results? Is it as good as the propaganda says it is?

Look at www.hytechsales Same stuff without the paint. Add the paint at your end and don't pay shipping for the paint. Enough for 5 gallons runs about $49.95 or so.

I sprayed my 74 floor boards inside the car last August with the lizard skin. The result is very good. Before I couldnt stand to drive my 74 during the summer for more than about an hour at a time because of my feet burning from the engine compartment heat. Now I can drive it as long as I want.. made a huge difference. I highly recommend it.

keep in mind that you will need a special gun to spray it. If you decide to go with the lizard skin, let me know. I already purchased the gun and I can help you out. I also did my 72 convertible on the inside and plan to do the engine compartment firewall and the trans tunnel too. Will probably do this in the next 2 - 3 weeks.

I did my firewall and part of the tunnel with it and it seemed to make a heck of a difference. Expensive but worth it, I'd recommend it.

Does this stuff spray on the floor boards under the carpets? So, it wouldn't show if the car were being judged? My 69 is miserable to drive on longer runs in the summer time because of the "Corvette Hotfoot". Where can you find Lizard Skin?

Thanks guys. One of the vendors that comes to all the local big events has a kit for just over 300 that has enough to do the interior and the gun. He said if I clean the gun he will buy it back. This weekend is the Pate swap meet at Texas Motor Speedway so I plan on getting it there. Once I get it in my 72 I'll post some pics.

Default Lizard Skin

I highly recommend using the Lizard Skin SuperPro Spray Gun kit when applying Lizard skin heat or the sound deadening product.Tried applying without it at first and that was a big mistake on my part. I was able to purchase 2 gal of heat insulation,2 gal sound deadener, and the spray gun from Summit for about $400, and have no regrets spending the money.

I used this on my 68 and was extremely happy with it. As ikwhite explained do yourself a favor if you did yourself get the right spray gun. I bought my gun from summit as well. Great system. Well worth every dollar in my opinion.

Great advice all and thank-you, I will definitely use this when I get around to the body off. Would you put the heat spray on both the interior and ext. uner the floor and on the firewall. I/ll also add the sound application as well even though I have a vert. I was in a C3 vert that they had done both heat and sound insulation and was just so impressed.

If you spray the outside you can add a small amount of water to the Lizard Skin this will help in laying it down with less texture. I did this, but then primed with Evercoat Slicksand, sanded smooth, then top coated black, so that you can not tell that I came halfway up the outside firewall. The bottom I left textured and just top coated black for maintenance purposes. Be aware that if you top coat Lizard Skin to use something that has some elasticity to it or it may crack on you, that advice came to me from a Lizard Skin Rep. Another thing is there is an order that you should follow when applying both the Heat and Sound deadener, so check to see what it is as I don't remember off hand.

I top coated Lizard Skin with Slick Sand then sanded smooth you could also just sand the Lizard Skin, but I did not want to waste any by putting it on the floor.

Afterwords I top coating with SPI Epoxy primer.

Then top coated with Bullet proof coatings Black.

The guy I bought my material from rented me the gun for a nominal fee. You might find someone in your area that would do the same, check some speed shops or custom car places.
