does a ignition switch on a '72 with tilt tele, suppose to have an a accessory position?
ie; to run the radio without engine running
is there suppose to be any pre start warning lights as well?
how do you know where the switch is set
i mean like newer cars with oil light and other safety lights that come on after the accessory position b4 start
with an auto, should the car start in neutral? or only park?
how deep into the column do i have to go to fix these problems?
is it the actual key lock tumbler part or other?
what lights / pre warning should be coming on?
neutral start would prob be the switch on the shifter, yes?
Lets take it one step at a time. To put your ignition into the ACC position, from the off position where the ignition key can be removed, you would have to push in the ignition cylinder and rotate counter clockwise. Are you able to do that?
I don't believe there is a "blank" position, it's probably just a transition area that feels like a true position. The "door ajar" position should be "ignition on" or "run" position. "Start" position should be spring loaded and pop back to the "run" position after you let go of the key after starting.
