I was driving the other day and noticed that when the shifter is in any gear( 4 spd M21, brand new)that it is very sloppy, 2-4 inches

any ideas

Default That's alot of slop
I assume you chnaged out the plastic bushings. The nuts on the side could've loosened up. I have the worst time keeping the gate on mine straight. One is either forward or backwards of the next linkage.

Use an inspection mirror and look at the left side of the assembly to see if the E-clip is bent or missing. If it is it will cost you about $0.25 to fix the problem.
