Do 79 Style half axles use "French Locks"?
I am installing the rear suspension out of a 1979 in my 73' rebuild. I don't have any references or assy manuals for the 79 so I need to know if the half axles use the french locks like the 73 did? Also, I am curious about the u-bolt that secure the inner "U-joint" to the differential, are they stronger than the block and bolt assembly?

French locks were used on all 65-82 Corvette rears.
As far as the U-bolt vs the bolt and cap U-joint retainers, I would think the bolt and cap is much stronger. Chevrolet only used the bolt and cap retainers on big block rears, because the BB produced so much torque.

If you get a set of the caps will they fit on the regular spindles.
