78 fuel gauge problem
I have a fuel gauge issue with a 1978. The original gauge worked but bounced badly (no dampening). I replaced the gauge with a new one and it will read correctly as I move the float up to 1/4 tank then goes to the 3 o'clock position. I have checked the ground at the sending unit and frame, checked the sending unit wire at the connector and at the gauge cluster connector. I get 0-90 ohms at the cluster and the old gauge works. I have tried three new gauges and they all do the same thing. The resistor on the back of the gauge reads 92ohms when disconnected from the gauge and 47 ohms when connected. What am I missing?
