I found that while removing the stainless trim from the T-Tops if I slid shim stock under each factory crimp between the fiberglass and the trim I could remove it without the crimp gouging the glass or deforming the trim. Jim
Here's one:
If I get a rusty bolt, say, on a rusty frame, and the bolt head breaks off trying to loosen it, what to do? Especially if I can't easily get a drill in there. Take a wire-feed welder and carefully weld onto the bolt, then place a larger nut over the broken bolt and continue to weld the broken bolt to the nut. Then remove the nut (and broken bolt) with a wrench. It works almost every time. If it was fozen tight before, the heat from welding usually breaks the rust off.
For quick and easy hood realignment when pulling an engine - Drill a hole vertically through the bottom hinge leaf matching the diameter of an awl. Remove the hood with the hinges attached to the hood. When reinstalling use the awl to get the alignment set. When doing this I've never had to adjust the gaps in the hood after removal of the hood.
I have one set of needle nose vice grips that I ground the teeth off that I use for clamping vacuum lines when checking for leaks in various parts of the system, by using a small pair of needle node I can adjust it for different diameter vacc lines and its clamping ability allows me to do things hands off.
If you havent already - stud the water pump pulley, it makes it easier to install the pully and fan.
