If I remember right a whole lot of Vettes have been made?...maybe one or two million over time? Would it be out of line to estimate that with junked, wrecked and parted out half of them overall might still be in existence from the 1950's to current?
I don't know many Ferrari's that go out of service unless they are wrecked as a possible comparison...at Least I've never read about many...so, if that speculation is right...maybe half of that year?
I once asked the forum if someone did a study and there was no answer.
half is 19,000 69's....if you take 5% exported beyond u.s. borders then divide the other 18,000 and if they were divided evenly by state then you've got only 360 per state. They aren't distributed that way but by population. makes it seem fairly rare to find a real garage find with those low numbers of an old big block.
Depends on how many new matching number 69's Pro Team has!
its so funny. years ago when the vette dream first hatched in my mind i actually imagined buying one from them. now that i have my first one i know i would never do that. but if i had sick cash like some people i know....why the hell not ! ?
I didn't know who you meant so went to their site....they have high prices but they have absolutely lousy photos. Where they photograph the cars they have something like sulphur lights above it and every red car turns out to have an orange hue.
If you want to sell cars from $40-60,000, you'd think you'd take better pictures.
why do i see so many 69's at affordable prices but VERY few 70-71's ? what is it about the 69's that make them a little cheaper ?
I may have a dog in the fight, but I'd like to see your supporting data that 69s are cheaper than the 70s and 71s. My impression is that the 69s are considered the most desirable of the C3 generation because they represent a virtually identical car to the original statement of the C3 concept, the 68, with a lot of refinements. The big blocks in the later cars are 454s, but the hp ratings were identical to the 427s. Maybe because there are twice as many of the 69s running around, there are more beaters available at low ball prices. I personally like the gills better than the egg crates. The flares were a great upgrade to the body design, however. Nobody likes chipped rockers.
