An L-88 wiithout the L-88 is simply a Corvette with a replacement engine.
If we're going to be truthful here, then MOST L88's fit the above. They were rode hard, put away wet, blown up, wrecked and discarded in favor of the next big thing. No one gave a ratz a$$ about future "collectability". Anyone who really thinks they're buying an original motor (notice I did NOT say matching number), never wrecked L88 is an idiot (there may be two that fit that discription, and I'd be suspect about one of them). /:\
I've seen several discussions of corvette value on this forum, and am surprised at the simplistic responses sometimes.
The history of a car can very easily add to its value, even if the car is incomplete. It all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. Many buyers have no concern for collectibility, or future investment value, they just want what they want.
I think this point is often missed.
Having said that, if your heart is set on an original L-88, I would be very suspicious.
