The rear looks to be off an 82 CE painted black. The front fenders look to be off an 82 as well, I have those side grills.
How is the interior?
I see they are using a stick to hold the rear glass up. The shocks that hold the glass up are near impossible to find.
I'd pass. You'll have over $10,000 into that in a heart beat. Paint and interior will cost you $8,000 at least. Plus drive train.
Buy a decent car and swap the motor.
I don't see a single thing on that car that makes it a 78 or 79.
Take the rubber off around the rear gas lid and see if there are wires there going into the tank. If there are its an 82 for sure, they had an electric pump. Or look on the fuse panel for the the letters "FP" for fuel pump.
It’s probably worth $2500 as a parts car. The initial $2500 is nothing compared to what it will take to bring some life back to the car. If there is any serious rust on the frame or birdcage its now on a different level. There are always more surprises (problems) underneath hiding.
