Default Hard Top Stand thoughts?

I am looking to see if anyone can post pics of any hard top stand or storage thing that you are using. I see on ebay they have one for $99+ $30 shipping but it looks really flimsy. Was thinking about building something with 2x4s. What is the safest way of positioning it - I was thinking the same position that it goes on the car. Thanks

I built mine from scrap lumber and spare casters. It is L shaped after one advertised for about $200 in one of the catalogues. Uprights are covered with carpet scraps. The top sits up on the rear bottom edge, leaning against the rear upright.

I roll it to where ever I want to put it.

thanks. that is kind of what i was envisioning putting together. i know it takes up more space but thinking about building something that has it rest same way it does on the car - concerned about the stress of the weight from standing up vertical. thanks again.

I don't think that you have to worry about storing it vertically but if you are concerned, get the shelves from the hardware store that hang from the ceiling and set it on that.

Something like http://www.homedepot.com/Storage-Org...atalogId=10053

They will be out of the way and won't get scratched

Built my own and since the top is on the car tonight I snapped a pic of it

The bottom is 32" x 24"

The angle is 56" up from where the top would rest on the base

And the upper section is 29" wide

2x4 construction and casters on the bottom with a tray for the top side bolts and pipe insulation foam to protect it from scratches.

good luck on your build

Not much stress to fret over. To date, the stand has not harmed my top.

That looks just like what I was envisioning building - will make it even easier working off your pic. Thanks
