Bought my first corvette its a 1976 L82 stingray with 80000 miiles all orig. anyway I want to tune up and was wondering where you guys might order from? reasonable pricing... Thanks
Tune up stuff can be gotten at any local parts store. The motor in your Vette is just like any other Chevrolet in 76. Nothing special. As for the specialty parts check out the vendors who sponser this site. Many give discounts to forum members. I personally use Zip for most of my parts. Fast shipping and they have excellent service.
Congrats on your first Vette! A '76 L82, sounds like a good machine to make your first Vette experience a memorable one. On piece of advice on a tune up, make sure you get a quality cap and rotor with brass terminals. When they give it to you, open the box and make sure the terminals on the cap are molded in straight up and centered on their post. A few years ago I could not get a truck to run correctly and tried everything. When I put the old cap back on it ran like a champ, even with the corrosion on the terminals. It was only then I inspected the cap further and saw that several terminals were molded in to the cap slightly off their plastic posts. You can get regular plug wires but when you spend a little extra money you get better boots, better wires, and the connectors will be tighter. Its a Corvette, it deserves the best you can afford.
I agree with Qwank, go with AC Delco plugs. Champions, Auto-Lites, and others just don't seem to work quite as well. Also, don't let the kid at the counter sell you on platinum or E3 plugs, you just need consistent spark plain and simple.
Good luck with it and post some pics of your new ride when you can!

Unless you have a modified engine, factory spec spark plugs are all you need. Using exotic spark plugs in a car not originally specifying them only lightens your wallet, makes the plug manufacturer richer plus it might give you a decal to put on the car so everyone knows whose company you're supporting.

Over the counter; cash and carry. No shipping. No waiting. You do not need whatever "card" they are going to offer. They do not need your phone number, your Social Security number, your license plate number, or any other number belonging to you or anyone in your family, including your Zip Code.
