Default Help!!!! Front left brakes sticking

First of all I have replaced both front calipers. Pads, rotor ok. Car was pulling to left before I replaced calipers. Right caliper was leaking, so I went ahead and replaced both to be done with it. Now the car still pulls to the left and after I drove it about a 1/8 of a mile the left side is locked up. Can the vaccum have anything to do with it releasing? Also, before I replaced the calipers, my lights stopped popping up--just wondering if I may have a vaccum problem. How would I check to see if I had the correct amount of vaccum at different places? Please Help!!!!

sounds to me like you got a bad caliper... return the left front one to the vendor. also, it would not hurt to replace the rubber hoses at the same time.

Did you replace the rubber hoses when you replaced the calipers? There could be a restriction in the left hose that is not allowing the pistons/pads to retract properly.

It sounds like you have a vacuum problem, but that is probably not causing your brake problem. A vacuum gauge is an inexpensive piece of test equipment. You should see ~18"-20" at idle with a sound engine.

Here is a link to how to read a vacuum gauge: http://www.classictruckshop.com/club...ts/vac/uum.htm

Crack the hose leading to the caliper to see if it relieves pressure and allows the pistons to retract. If so, then the hose has collapsed and it needs to be replaced. I would recommend all four if they are the same age.

I had the same problem last spring.

I bought the rebuilt kit and all new hoses for the 4 corner, problem solved.

The old hoses was collapsed internally.

had the same problem with my right side pulling. the left side flex hose was plugged by its own material- it had corroded. Took it off the car and blew it out with an air hose. Man, they had paper clips, cigarette butts, hair pins, rocks and all kinds of stuff in that hose. just kiddin, but the internal rubber DID have it plugged pretty good. change all 4 rubbers, then report back.
