Default Replacing review mirror glass

Has any one replaced the glass in the review mirror for an '81? Mine is really pitted; I bought a replacement from a local store, but it vibrates pretty bad. Since the original doesn't, I thought I could just replace the glass, but I'm having trouble popping it out. I've tried heating it up with a hairdryer and that seemed to help, but still couldn't get it to pop out and I cracked the plastic a little in the corners. I'm wondering if its actually glued to something and not just sitting in there. Any advice? Thanks.

Bought glass for my 75 (has the map light). The original is REALLY glued in. I broke the glass-removed-then the new glass goes in easy.
I originally tried the hair dryer and ended op stretching the plastic trim. Should have broken the glass first! Good luck

Soaked my '71's in gas overnight, glass fell right out. Probably not good for paint, tho!

Mine is all plastic, can't imagine it'd survive a gasoline soaking.

If they can cut a new one without needing the original, then I suppose it's not such a bad idea.

What type of glue is used to glue the mirror glass to it's rubber surround?
