I plan on maybe washing mine tomorrow if the weather permits. We will see how that goes... lol
I haven't washed it since the new paint job was finished about three and a half weeks ago. I hope I don't mess it up!

Needless to say, I'm washing them at least once per week even if I don't drive very far/long and my father in-law thinks I am damaging the cars by washing them so frequently. Is he right? Tell me it's no so!
I think ya wash it when it's dirty.

If the car is clean, and just has tree sap on it, I'd use an exterior detail spray and clean it up quickly that way.

I'm a Zaino and California Duster fan.

I like this response, it makes a lot of sense. I have a duster too, and use it from time to time. I'll wash it if it gets sufficiently dirty that I fear the duster might cause tiny scratches. Other than that, the only time I wash it with water is right before I wax, which I do once or twice per year.

I think the real question is what kind of car do you have and what is the paint job on your car like. If I had an LT-1 with the original paint, I would probably treat it somewhat differently. My car being a driver, and the paint being a mediocre 3 year old paint job, I treat it pretty similarly to how I treat my DDs.

The paint and clear on my 68 was applied less than 3 years ago and was washed for the first time last month. The paint on my 73 is about 15 years old. I will look into Zaino and Adams as an alternative to washing, and appreciate everyone's feedback. BTW, both cars are driven for fun, not museum pieces, but at the same time, I want to maintain their appearance not expedite the need for new paint
