OK gang we have a 71' that have replaced all the hoses and acturators to the wiper door assembly now all of a suddened the damn wiper door will open once it is started and will not go back down until you turn it off and push it close. I have attempeted to adjust the litlle vacuum swith under the door but doesn't make a difference, do you thing that one of the acturators could have gone bad?
I doubt an actuator has gone bad.
The items I would check are hoses, could one have fallen off?
Override valve under the steering column.
Control unit, either on the firewall near the master cylinder or wheel well?
It's on the firewall on the 70.
The plunger control which the wiper arm presses on when parked, in the wiper tub.
Maybe the solenoid mounted to the back of the tach.
Are you sure a hose didn't get knocked off behind the dash?

Something has to be wrong... For the door to open, the vacuum on the control hoses must be blocked. This is done by the solenoid on the back of the tach when you turn on the wipers. or by the over-ride switch under the dash.
The solenoid blocks the vacuum on hose B and when this happens the vacuum is lost all the way to the relay H which opens the wiper door from lack of vacuum on hose K.
So what would I check... I think the first thing I would check is to make sure the hoses are on the relay H in the correct position. If these hoses are reversed, the system works backwards.
If not.. then look at this schematic.. and back track.. looking for where the vacuum is being blocked at. Just remember, for the door to close there must be vacuum on hoses K D and B. All items such as the solenoid, the over-ride, and the wiper arm valve will pass vacuum when the system is off.
So.. Check hoses G and F and make sure they are on the relay correctly.
For the door to be opening.. something is blocking vacuum or the hoses are on the relay H wrong.
