Default Another 'I need help with a few things' thread

I just picked up an 80 with 42,000 miles on it. Being that its my first c3, I have a few quick questions that I'm sure some of you are quite knowledgeable about.

1] Turn Signal. I can push down the t/s lever to turn on my left blinker. It clicks in place and usually clicks off after turning. However, when I turn on my right t/s, the blinker works fine, but it does not click into place; I have to hold it for it to keep blinking.

I'm perfectly capable of breaking down the steering column and finding the problem, but being my daily driver, I hoped someone could lead me in the right direction before I to that.
Can someone tell me what I need to order to fix this?

2] The dash lights worked fine for about a week (but the center gauges did not light up). Now, nothing lights up. I went through the troubleshooting stages and it came down to being the light switch. Ones in the mail now.

My question is: Could the light switch failure be the cause of the center gauges not lighting up all along? If not, what controls them, and how might I fix them.

Thanks In Advance

If the connector in the back of the gauges comes loose, the gauges can still work, but not light up.

I think you need a new turn signal switch, that's where the cam is that locks the lever in place,

As far as the other, do the speedo and tach light up. if not I'd say it could be the headlight switch, if they do as stated it could be the plug or the ground for the center panel,

hope that helps,

Frank
