Default Need help estimating value

Hello

I have a silver on black '82 with 31K original miles. The guy I bought it from was working toward NCRS and had replaced a lot of parts in the interior and engine bay, and has great paint. He had a family crisis, needed money, and put it up for sale. I took it to a local restoration guy I've known awhile and after going thru it for about 40 min said it was "impeccable" and something he'd be proud to have done. Very clean, even the areas way up inside the chasis showed it wasn't driven on rainy or dirty streets. I think the last steps were to get underneath and so some sanding and painting on chasis parts.

When I say it looks (or looked) like it was right off the showroom floor, that's no exaggeration. But it was rearended, wtih damage to the front/rear caps and rear fenders. The rest is still in great condition.

Now I need to sell it, and I'm trying to decide whether it would be better to get it repaired and sell, or, sell it to someone who's comfortable wtih handling the repairs and keeping the insurance check.

Which do you think is the better direction? What do you think its worth to someone who is comfortable handling the repairs?

Lots of thanks in advance -- Dave

--------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a couple of pics. The first is of the rear. The left rear has a < 1 inch crack right at the top of the back of the fender. The right rear has a 3 inch crack just above the right rear side marker. The rest of the rear, besides the cap, is ok.

The second picture is the front cap that was damaged when it was pushed under the back bumper of the minivan in front of me. The fiberglass in front of the right front headlight has a < 1 inch scrape.

Better days ........................................ ...............

It would help if we could see pics of the current condition of the car. Hard to say based on the word description. If the damage is excessive, it may be relegated to a parts car.

Too bad it got wrecked. There's a guy here on the forum that's been searching for that very colour combo for a while.

I have been looking for over four years:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-...r-edition.html

Please post up some detailed pics so I can see how bad the damage is, I might still be interested. Any damage to the frame, or is the damage all limited to the front and rear bumper covers? What was the repair estimate? Thanks!

Based on the pics, most of what I see is cosmetic. Sell it "as is."

Damage looks pretty minimal. I'd go get a quote to get it repaired. Find a decent price on repairs and you'll do much better than selling it as is. Buyers are going to want to deduct too much for it. Although you might have a buyer on here already.
