Hi, I pulled the body off my 74 to repair some frame rust. The frame itself is not too bad, just in front of the left rear wheel and a couple of other spots. The bad thing is the #3 body mounts if the body itself, they are gone, I wouldn't have had to cut the heads off the bolts at all, they were not holding nothing. Have any of you used the inserts that Zip-corvette sells? If so what do you think of them and are there any tricks to using them? I have not seen this talked about on the forum before so I thought I would ask. Thanks.
Why don't you consider calling Zip and find out what it's all about. They are really good to chat with. How do the #4 body mount brackets look? I'd think with all the rust on the 3#'s that your #4 brackets might simply be gone or rusted thru. You can get new #3 access panels, mount bolts and clips. Spread a thin bead of some black rubber sealer on the access panel edges to keep water out when you get it back on the road.

Thanks for the come back. I'll have to give Zip a call. Yes the #4 body mounts are almost gone. I will replace them too. I am thinking of using poly body mounts when I put the body back on. Do you think this is best, or the rubber mounts? Thanks
Here's a couple threads with pics of my rocker channel inserts and body mount repairs on the frame. Basically, the rocker channel inserts come in three pieces; a pillar, center, and b pillar. First clean up the old rocker channels the best that you can, then cut out the area of the #2 and #3 body mounts and slide the inserts up from the bottom, then bolt the center up with two bolts where the plugs are on top. Now weld the center in place, bolt the doors on and set the door gaps. Mount the body on the frame ensuring the door gaps remain good. Tighten the body mounts up, then weld the A and B pillar inserts. It's been a while, but I believe that's how I did it. Got the inserts and instructions from Corvette Central. Good luck!
