I bought my '69 in 1973 and even then it had the bubba cut fuel line with the generic Fram fuel filter held on by worm gear clips. Is this the mod everyone did back them when, I guess, either the GF432's were discontinued or were felt to be more expensive than the Frams.?

I have never seen that particular filter. The most common alteration I have seen is disconnecting the fuel return line and using an aftermarket pump to carb fuel line that takes some kind of inline fuel filter (with no return line outlet).

I believe some were confused by the return because it lowered the fuel pressure at the carb, probably thought it was hurting performance.
And if I remember right Fram had 432.

i agree,,, i just changed teh fuel pump on my 68 last week,,, there are many "replacements" taht will fit, but the one it calls for (in the napa books, anyway), has quite a bit more pressure than the regular passenger car pumps.... i believe, if you plug teh return line, and use a generic 2 pipe filter, you are putting too much pressure on teh needle valve, probably a reason for running rich, and flooding?????
Thanks for all the replies. Yup, lots of bubba fixes. In any event, I've been running the generic Fram for close to 40 years but the in process resto has it being replaced with the #432 and "correct" pump to filter to carb hard lines.
