Default Info on 74 Stingray

Hello all! I recently rescued a 1974 Stingray from being abandoned in the woods for 20 years, and decided to have it restored....which is almost complete. I was wondering exactly how many 74 stingrays were made with the 454 and manual transmisison in the coupe. I have found several stat sheets of various sales info, but none that tell me how many of my configuration were made. Anyone know?

Thanks, Richard

LS4 454ci. 270hp engine $250 Qty. 3,494.
M21 4-spd, Close Ratio Manual Trans. $0.00 Qty. 3,494
They don't have figures on that exact combination.

I purchased the car for $250. When i say abandoned, I really mean they pushed it into the woods and left it there. I have the title.

There were 3494 built with the 454, split between coupe and convertible is unknown. 12,356 car were built with a 4 speed, split between small block/big block or coupe/convertible is unknown.

You can only approximate using option totals, but statisticly there should have been around 946 with those options.

37,502 74's were made.

85% were coupes
33% were manual transmission
9% were 454's

37,502 x .85 x .33 x .09 = 946.74
or
85% x 33% x 9% = 2.5%

The problem with statistics is that while it is known that 64% are made up on the spot, only 15% of people understand that.

How about the probability of those that wanted a BBC would also prefer a 4 speed over an auto box? My guess is yes. Did BBC owners prefer coupes over convertibles? Dunno.

That's fine as along as everyone understands any such figure is only an estimation since actual production records do not exist.

And as Mike pointed out, many options would have gone together at much higher than random frequency.

Default Engine?

Does the car have the engine. I have an earlybuild 74 454 block, heads and intake that I am getting rid of for a song. Best of luck with the car. You will enjoy the big block. I have a 72 454, 4-speed thast is a lot of fun.
