The 18x8 BOSS 338's have a 4.5-inch backspace compared to the 4" stock backspace, so they sit 1/2" further inside the wheel wells. I didn't have any rubbing problems on my '80, but I am going to add 1/4" spacers when I put my car back together to get some of the lost width back.

I thought I'd really dislike the extra half inch of backspace, but that difference allowed me to lower my car without tires rubbing the wheel well lip on sharp, bumpy turns.

thats not mine, i just saw it on another forum. it's a pretty bad a$$ vette. if i remember correctly. i can't remember which forum i saw it on. i think it might of been vettemod?
