Default Hi all newbie here

I am Kim but I imagine my husband will be on here more than me. We just bought our very first vette as my college graduation present. This car (I was flexible on the years..as long as we stayed with the C3) has been my dream since I was about 6 years old. I'm also quite obsessed with Prince...do you know where this is going? So my Mom bought me some records. I assume my love of Vettes started with the song "Little Red Corvette"...Anywho since then I have always wanted a corvette! I was actually promised one for my high school graduation in 98 but well that didn't happen..then my college graduation..and well that didn't happen. My hubby said 'we can do it, so lets not wait!'.

We bought a 79..and it just so happens its red at the moment. So we have had her for almost a week. She's been sitting in my garage until he gets a few things figured out as well as the tags and all. I am still a bit in shock when I walk through the garage. Like: Oh yeah..I finally have my vette (though she isn't the right color, and yeah she needs some work). I can't walk by without patting her. After reading a bit in this forum I guess I'm emotionally involved as you guys say

So nice to meet you all and I look forward to becoming a member of this forum! I'm sure we will have many questions to pick your brains about. Some I have already read up on (bloody hell it is hot as hades in the drivers side!) My husband was/is a mechanic though his job is military police in the US Army. He is a tinkering sort of guy and always has more than one project going at a time. I figure this car will keep him busy!

Hi Kim,

Congratulations!
The '79 has beautiful lines. Welcome and enjoy. Don't forget to wave to other fellow corvette drivers regardless of the year model when you are on the road. Congrats!

Hi Kim. Welcome! Great 1st post. I mainly hang out in the C6section, but like to sniff around here, as I am looking to add a C3 in the future.
Great to see a female involved.
Congrats to you, and your husband on the new ride!

Hello Kim! I'm new too - just got a 78 a couple of weeks ago. And like you I am already emotionally attached - it was raining today so I drove my Focus and I thought, "This is what it feels like.....when doves cry."

Welcome - and say hi to your hubby! I did four in the Army..right after doing four in the Corps! And now I've got I'm a vet with a Vette running four on the floor!!!

And come to think of it.. My wife let me get it primarily because I just finished my MBA, so mine is kind of a graduation present too!

I love the Prince reference

My hubby did 4 in the USMC as well before switching over to the Army.

Seems like lots of vettes are graduation presents. The guy we bought ours from got it as a college graduation as well. I said the buck stops with mine. It will not be my sons graduation present

Welcome to the forum! I also like your two-tone seats, I plan on customizing mine soon in two colors.

I'm in the graduation club also! I drove a '75 for six years as a daily driver, then traded it for a minivan when the second shild was born. Just finished my MBA, and my wife says why don't you get yourself a Corvette for as a graudation gift? She didn't have to ask twice! After 16 years of telling people I'm "between 'Vette's", I'm back behind the wheel.

Welcome to the forum. It's great to see dreams come true and if the photo of the garage is any indication of where the car will usually sleep at night, then we're all in for some more fun.

Wishing you and your main squeeze all the best and please keep posting pictures. We can see so much when you do.

Congrats!

I can't claim that garage as it is the garage of the guy we bought it from He couldn't part with the Corvette sign but did give us a framed catalog brochure that is going up on our wall soon! I just went through the car (he literally gave us a suit case of stuff) and he left us some Corvette sunglasses in a corvette case. Very cool.
