Obviously- engine is Tune Ported FI 350...but I could replace with a 72 350. Needs some body work...looks to be in good shape. Would this be worth restoring?
I think it depends on the year, engine, condition, etc. of your Dart and how desirable it is. If its a 318 Dart probably a good trade. If its a nice 67 with a 340 or 383, not such a good trade. Can you tell us about the Dart?
What is the value of your car and how much money do you want to put in the vette? It's going to cost some bucks. No reason to replace the engine in it with a '72 engine as it isn't going to be numbers matching anyway therefore wont really matter.
Is it worth restoring? Yes. Is it worth it to you for the amount of dollars it will cost to restore? You have to answer that.
Thanks for the feedback. The Dart has a 360 (obviously not one of the great Mopar engines)...probably need a new paint job, but still decent.
As for the Vette- it has a crack in the fiberglass nose (just underneath the non-working vacuum-issue headlights) and looks to be a chunk of fiberglass missing in the bottom front fender (with a crack just above), perhaps 4" square. How expensive is this to fix? Another concern is the engine in the Vette is non-carburated- fuel injected. runs decent...but odd they dropped a tune ported FI 350.
I LOVE the look of the Vette- but I am willing to restor over the years. How easy is it to come by parts? How expensive could it be to fix the vacuum issue so the headlights pop-up properly? For my 67 Dart, it is very difficult to find parts.
Parts for C3's (except for the '68's to some extent) are available either from numerous vendors or from the "for sale" thread on the C3 section. You should have someone familiar with C3's look the car over for you as there are other concerns - the bird cage in particular. You need to see how much you will need to put into the car and whether it makes sense for you.
67 Dart with a 440 is a cool car. You can get 440's real cheap out of motor homes and get easy 500 HP. If you did that with a nice paint job, the mopar would be worth more with less cost. Lets see some pics
Sorry all. I can't post pics (guess I need to upgrade my account ) Just wondering if the place is trying to sell this Vette for $10,000...and "nicer" versions of my 67 Dart GT Convertible with better engines, non-# mactching sell for $8,000 - $10,000...wonder if it is worth the trade.
The car looks great except for the nose damage. the TPI swap looks pretty clean too. The price isnt too outrageous for a chrome bumper driver, assuming the frame and birdcage are solid.
I would do the trade, this car is a good platform to start out with
In a nutshell - the Vette is worth more in the lower condition ranges, but as you move up in condition the Dart almost catches it. I don't know what condition your Dart is in, but that Vette needs to have some work. It's priced down toward the 15th percentile. It says it runs well. It might be pretty well priced. Hard to say what your Dart is worth without knowing the quality but if you can gauge where it falls compared to other cars out there being sold, this chart might be of some use.

Watch the Mecum auctions and see what some of the restored restomod mopars are going for, then look at 72 vettes. You will have way more $$ into the vette to get it to the equivalent condition - its not just the price you have to consider the cost of restoration. I can tell you that a vette paint/body job is big bucks Does your car have any body rot in the rockers or trunck - if not paint job is cheap. And to top it off your car is a GT convertible!! It would be a no brainer for me - I love vettes but how many cool Dart GT convertibles do you see?? If you really need to get a vette go for a 68 or 69 without major body damage and NOM. My 0.02
I DID IT! Pulled the trigger on the deal. They are sending the 72 this week and putting my Dart on the trailer. Even trade and only paid $600 for shipping from Iowa to Milwaukee. Can't believe I will be a Vette owner! SWEET!
46K for a '72? Wanna tell me how you came to that evaluation?
The most expensive one currently available on Autotrader.com is listed at $120,000. The second most expensive is $89,900. Autotrader has a total of eleven listed above $46,000.

Mike-
His calculator looks at percentiles from a sample that he put together and what % of those for sale are below a certain price. His #s say that 90% of the sample of 72s that he found are below $46k (one sample was I guess above $46k). He sent me the model and I am not a big fan. I don't think it is possible to take a sample to come up with a market value and not make adjustments for condition, engine, options, originality, etc.
