Hello,
I was driving the Vette yesterday and the windows were both down, went to put them back up and the driver side window will not move. There was no noises, like the motor was burning up or anything...
Here is what I have done, I took the door panel off and tryed pulling up on the window while hitting the switch; I have made sure the connectors on the motor are tight. And the switch works. Does this mean It must be the motor? Does anybody know off anything I'm overlooking?
Thanks
Huh ! This was my problem yesterday. Power window would go up but not down.
Pull the 3 wire connector from the passanger side switch and hook it to the drivers side switch. This will tell you if your switch is working.
Put the drivers side connector to the passanger side switch and try.
Years ago I had the 3 hole switch connector fail - so this may be your problem too.
Hey guys,
I took both of the wire legs off of the window motor, and had a voltmeter on them. They both had volts to the when the switch was in the correct position; so I think the switch is fine! and there can't be a break because the wires are both hot when they get to the motor, Right?
So I believe it must be the motor... Anybody familar with replacing motors, is it cut and dry?
Thanks everyone!
if the motor isnt grounded it wont work, there is a ground attachment screw in the passenger side door frame, that both motors ground to. check the ground..... or try grounding the black (-)wire that goes to the motor, blue is up(+), brn is down (+).

What did your dash voltmeter do in both the up and down positions ?

The dash voltmeter stayed the same i think; I would have to look again... but the rpm tach showed a difference in voltage in both up and down positions.

If the ground on the passenger side was bad, would both windows not work? because the passenger side works fine. And I will have to look and make sure the black wire is in place; I don't even know where it is yet.. Thank you.

Normally I would tell you to reboot... but this is the wrong kind of windows...
I agree, this sounds like a complete ground issue to me. Isnt there a ground going back to the console switch? I could have sworn that there was a grounding spot there as well but its been a couple years since I had to repair mine. I was thinking it ground to the same source as the 12v lighter did?
