I installed mine last week. Good to know they don't just explode. At least you have time to get out. I've been keeping a mental checklist just in case. Key off, seat belt off, grab extinguisher, open hood, put out fire. I even carry a small pair of vise grips in the hope that I could quickly pitch off the fuel line at the tank.
Picking up a fire extinguisher today. Wondering who did the video? If it were my car I am not sure what I would have done but couldn't have stood there and filmed my dream burn away. Would have tried to flag someone down who might have an extinguisher. Sad
Wow, nothing left to do but watch it burn. I like the guy that jumped up on the road barrier to film it. Any word on the cause? I want to make sure that I don't do what ever it was.

Based on the location of the flames at the beginning of the video my guess is rotted rubber "S" hoses at the fuel pump. Then gravity flow of gasoline from the fuel tank did the rest. On these old cars, shutting ignition off does not stop that flow.
