Default Fiberglass exhaust block off advice please

Hi

Was looking for some advice on glassing off the rear exhaust sections

the P.O. seems to have modified and cut the fiberglass so getting a block off plate will still require fiberglass repairs.

What would the best way to "bridge the the gap" so I can lay down the fiberglass matting?

thanks

Hi

I'm looking for advice on glassing in the holes without the use of a block off panel since the P.O. cut part of the rear clip so will need to do a fibreglass repair anyway.

Would I use a wire mesh to lay the the first layer of fibreglass matting down.

New to fibreglass repairs!

Thanks

Eoin

Help us try to help you. Post pics of what you're talking about. You can see what the previoius owner did, but we can't.

Here's a pic of another forum members car

The only difference is that the PO of my car cut away a little extra for custom exhaust tips. So a block off plate will still require glass work.

Since the car has to be painted anyway i'm hoping to glass in the complete area without the use of a block off plate

Looking for a few tips on how to lay down the first layer of the fiberglass matting?

Should I install some sort of a mesh?

Cut where? Inside edge toward the license plate, or outside edge toward the marker light?

If the cut is inside, purchase a replacement rear panel and you're home free. There is a raised lip on the panel at the exhaust cut out to mount the chrome bezel. You can try to replace/repair that, but the quickest and easiet fix would be to go to the replacement panel.

Stretch masking tape over the opening to act as a temporary backing for the new glass. Once it's set, the tape can be removed(although it may need to be sanded off).

The cuts on the outside so will require some glass work anyway

I'll give it a go laying down some masking tape as a backing

thanks
