Default How do I GUT this AC box?

I hate unnecessary clutter under my hood. My AC is disconnected and I have no use for a heater core. (Its a summer only car....and my summers are damn short here) Is it feasible to gut this box? Whats behind it and where is the heater core in relation to all this?

This link should help. I've completely pulled the heating and AC system out of my car and documented the removal with photos and a write up on my website:

You won't be able to gut your box and remove it without replacing it with a similar unit from a non-AC car. The blower motor and fan are contained within the housing that's located inside the engine bay. The heater core is located in a comparable box located inside the passenger compartment (beneath the dash). That said, I believe the boxes from non-AC cars are a fair bit smaller.

Why do I have to replace it? Im more than happy closing the firewall with sheet steel......

Allow me to be more specific....can I pull the AC box with the car intact? All Im really worried about is pulling a bunch of screws and then finding out I cant get the damn thing out without removing the entire fender!

yes you can get it out fairly easily.

It is easier to remove by splitting it down the center and take each half out separately.

You will be left with an opening that has the heater core tubes exiting

More info in my thread here.

I will be using an ACDelete cover that allows the core to still be used but looks neat.
