Did some logging of the airtemperature just in front of the aircleaner to see if there is a need for a cold air duct.
The white thermometer top window is showing 65deg celsius just after start were i have been standing still for a few minutes befor the race started. The lower window shows the temperature in the cocpit.
Tha ambient air temperature was somewhere around 17 deg celsius at the time.

Here the car has been running for a wile with airflow trough the engine compartment, still i reads about 46deg celsius at the aircleaner.
I think i will make/install a cold air duct before next summer.

A little update about the safetybit..
After having tested 6 different seats i ended up with Kirkey seats, they fit in nicely in the car and also alows me to sit very low wich gives me good clearence for both the soft top and the rollbar with helmet on.
Its quite an improvement in both feeling of safety and controll to be in a good seat+harness.

First lap at the race (then the battery in my camera went flat).
This is the day after the qualifying and the track has dried up.

Offcourse its raining (Sweden) and offcourse the battery of my camera went flat in the end of the day when it stopped raining and dried up.. :/
The starboard wiper jumped off as you can see..

no kidding...with a 454 I think in a vette with a four speed and posi on a wet track! I ran my 76 with a stock l48 on vir's road track which turned out to be a dry day but they run wet or dry when scheduled so I practiced with it in the rain on country roads to prepare...keeping that rear end under control on wet corners is work and with a 454 that can haul *** like his 72 can I think it would be almost impossible...he did well with it but on a dry track he really rolled.

great video's and a treat when you can't get out yourself.the c2's with very similar stock suspension's don't seem to do too well in the curves.most of the cars are modded differently i understand, but i wonder if it is inherent in their design somewhere.

the camera on mine is a Samsung HD digital camera that is about as big as two cigarette packs which does a good job. I have one of sailing my new Flying Scot 19' sailboat up on lake anna a couple weeks ago as I was getting used to the new to me hull #4961 sailboat. I'll clip the link here and then get out of the thread as it's the wrong subject.....

It must be just me, but it sure looks like you have a white full-face helmet with a dark/black shield to the left of the camera and in the mirror looks like a dark (black?) open face helmet.

It shure looks a bit strange in the picture but the black parts you see at the side of my helmet are the plates that goes over the end of the visor.
The visor itself has been removed.
Look closly in the mirror and you will see the checkers there aswell.

Thanks for diving in to my thread.

Rain is not so bad at all on the Toyo R-compound tyres, these proved to be very predictable (spelling?).

The BF Goodrich however..
First off all theese tyres contains a lot of Silicone, if you run the tyres warm and drag the palm of your hand over the threds one can feel it on the surface..

This together with a chassie setup that suits the R-compound tyres well is propably just to much for the old BF's.

Dont get me wrong, i like my BF's wery much, they are great street tyres for normal driving and ocational frying etc but they quickly looses grip when getting warm.

I think the behaviour of the C2 is a product of a modified chassie and lousy tyres.

The car is wery stiff and should propably do much better with good tyres.
Also it has a quite hi-reving smallblock and a 6-speed Richmond wich i belive doesnt work as smooth in the corners as my low-reving BB.

Heres some pictures of my car resting in shelter of the rain by my friends rig, he is driving a quite hot 68 427.

His company sponsors a quite nice Cadilac drag race car that normaly houses in the trailer.

When i grow up, i want one of those to..

Ricky,

I just discovered your thread. Love it! I always wondered what it would be like to chase an early C3 over a race track. My car won't ever compare to yours ('69 L46 in regular street trim) but I will be able to drive it over the racetrack in Modena, Italy in spring next year. Looking at your pictures and video I can't wait, even if I'll be driving at half the speed you were.

Hi Martin.

Thanks fir reading my thread.

First time i took my car to the track it was dead stock with a little sloppy and saggy 40 years old suspension.. -And i just loved it!!

If you havent yet driven your car on a track you will know what i mean when you do it in Modena..

Modena by the way.. I would love to go over the alps in my Vette.

Unfortunatly i live a bit to far north for that to be realistic for time beeing..

You must post some pictures from your trip and when on the track in Italy.

//Ricky.
