I am looking for a radio shop that could upgrade the radio from my 1982 CE with todays technology while keeping the exterior unchanged! Any suggestions?
Depends on how unchanged you want your interior. There are alot of installers out there who can carefully trim your gauge console to accomodate the newer after market radio console units....I just did it to accomodate a radio/CD/Ipod unit that had Bluetooth capabilities for my phone. Came out great. However, if you do not want to chance cutting up your console, just check out the vendors on this forum who have radios that look more 1980ish that have the newer technology concealed inside. Just depends how much you want to spend and how much you want to alter your console. Good luck-Pete
if you check the ads in hemmings motor news, you will find radio techs that will rework your original radio, leaving the original appearance, but add completely modern innards, and any other bells and whistles you might want (it all can be done for a price). if that is what you want. if you don't care about the appearance check with custom auto sound or any of the major corvette parts suppliers and most have a selection of new radios that will fit into the console without any alterations.
Thanks Guys. I want to keep the original look and looking for a company that will re-gut my existing radio with new technology. I will try Hemings news.
