I am rebuilding the 74. Have a body, no wires in it. Question is:
What is the easiest way to rewire the Vette. I seem to remember
on one of the TV shows that there is a place that makes wire
harness that are completely labeled wire by wire. Also I thing there
is a company that makes the fuse blocks that test your circuit via
led's. Or do I go with GM parts? Does anyone have any advise on
this endeavor.
All of the vendors carry wire harnesses that are good reproductions of the originals. Lectric limited makes a lot of them and the yare all pretty good. I have used various ones from different vendors here on the forum and they are good products. They fit and have the right connectors and the correct size wiring. The only time I would not use one of these if the car was going to be a race car and then there are specific ones for that also. If this is going to be a driver car stick with the reproduction harnesses.
Since most of the suppliers sell Lectric Limited harnesses, I would say just find the cheapest price. I would also recommend getting the osoeeze diagrams from Doc. Rebuild, they show the actual wire colors and sizes and show pics of the actual connectors to make your job easier.
Purchase aftermarket stock wiring harnesses specifically for that purpose. Lectric Limited makes most of them.
You will need forward lamp, engine, dash main, and rear main if you have no stock wiring of any type. Certain options may have individual harnesses. Power windows is one. Assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows each harness and how it was installed at St. Louis.
