What a freaking day
Ok let me start off by saying that i left this morning to get my dream car, everything was going GREAT until about half way back home (still 80 miles away) the smog pump froze up and broke 2 belts. I had to leave the smog belt off and I want to know would that mess up the motor or anything, I drove her home with no other problems, just wondering if I can take it off which would make this a lot easy to work on. I will post some pictures of my new baby tomorrow OH MY FIRST VETTE AND I LOVE IT

If you remove it you may have to plug the holes in the exhaust manifolds.....running it without the belt will not hurt anything.
Back in the day I removed the air pump from my 68 Camaro and I installed brass plugs in the manifolds.

taking it off will be do no harm in many ways it will make the car run better. SAVE IT. DON'T TOSS IT. put everything in a box, catalog it and put it in a safe place. You never know, if you want to bring the car back to original or if you ever sell it , its good to have all the original parts

take it off but absolutely save it! I took mine off when I installed headers, but I have so much more room under the engine. its amazing how having the AIR system on interferes with doing the simplest task, such as replacing valve cover gaskets and stuff.
Mine is stored away safely in my garage for the day where all states require California type emissions testing.
