How much wider of a wheel can you fit with offset trailing arms vs. Relocating the emergency brake on the ones I got. If it's not a big difference I'll just relocate mine. Does anyone know the max width rim with each?
It's not so much how wide a wheel you can fit, but how much extra backspacing do you get. The e-brake bracket sticks out about an inch, so you can fit a wheel with an extra inch of backspacing to the car. The wheel itself can be any width.
One area you need to look at though, is the rear roll stabiliser bar, if fitted. It can get very friendly with the rim if the backspacing is increased.
Yeah that makes since. I guess what im trying to find out is which will give me the best bang for my buck. I want to leave the wheel and tire under the rear fender but I am wanting to put a wider wheel and tire on. I have heard that a 18" wheel 10" wide with 5" backspacing will fit with just moving the e brake bracket. Im not wanting to go too crazy just want to make it look a little more aggressive. I am just going to leave the front stock width just wanting 18".
On an 82 with the e-brake cable re-located, you can run a 18 x 9 with a 5" backspacing and a 275/40/18 tire without any issues. This is also with the car lowered 2".
