Well I finally pulled the trigger and purchased my first vette ever, a couple of months ago. It's a 1981 that is in pretty good shape. This is my son's and mine, drivable project car. I have been reading post on this forum from the start and the info is fantastic on here. The inside needs to be redone, cracks everywhere and the carpet is faded. Someone change the color from Maroon Metallic to red and done a poor job of it. The paint looks good from 10 feet away. The paint was so oxidized that the red looked pink but have compounded the daylights out of it and I do have a little shine. The paint job can wait till later. Someone has already pulled all the emission junk off and done a rebuilt years ago. We have been enjoying it for the past couple of weeks but the steering column and steering box needs to be rebuilt so we started that last week and hope to have it back on the road in a couple more. Good or bad this is what I know about what has been done. Any insight on this setup would greatly be appreciated.

If I might make a suggestion?
A good project some afternoon would be to get a more street friendly intake like a RPM style Dual plane.
Check out the Summit aluminum intake line they have, i think they are made by Weiand but at a cheaper price.
if you can work on cars a vette is easy other than the rearend stuff, but remember its just a small block Chevy engine and parts and knowledge is cheap and easy to find!

Nice car. If I might suggest - If its has an aftermarket cam in it - it probably needs oil with some extra ZDDP. Lots of good info on here about it. Make sure you use the right oil !
