Default holley bog

77 corvette sbc cam specs 204 I 214 E 488 lift

ok holley carb 080508-1 (750 vaccum secondary)
it was a good carb until i took it off car for cam change. just so everyone knows i put a known good carb and it runs great.

ok as of now it has a metering block in the back and its vaccum secondarys kinda like a 3310 holley

the problem: car bogs at wot only under load
soultions failed: 1.changed vacuum secondary springs from white to black with the best being purple spring but still a bog 2. rebuilt carb(new power valve and gaskets) 3. jetted front from 66 to 68 then to 70 same problem. Holley tech said to run 76 in rear as thats what cam stock so i did 4. set timing at 10,12,14,15,16,18. (vaccum at idle 18) 5. changed intake gaskets and carb base gaskets again 6. changed fuel pump even though i was getting 6psi and filters and filters in carb. 7. disconnected vaccum secondary linkage. 8. all thats left is to throw it the trash ive seen old quadrajets not give me this many problems

You really didn't need to put another metering plate in the back did you?
Anyway disconnect the back barrels and just run off the front of the carb, at least you might eliminate some question.

You need to start playing with the accelerator pump shot. What size squiters are you using? Start adjusting the pump spring and also moving the cam from 1 to 2 see if that helps.

Welcome to the tuner world, I'm there now as well.

You either need someone who can physically work on it for you or just sell it and buy a brand new 750 and save all kinds of time.
Its not going to get fixed with suggestions.

Interesting choices. I have been dealing with the carb bog and my dyno runs show that the carb goes rich at the point of bog. The PO had changed the squirter from a 25 to a 28. Looking at the fuel curve, I figured it was dumping the fuel in too fast because of the larger squirters and I reduced it back to a 25. Haven't dynoed it since to see if it made a real difference. IIRC, the second hole reduces the size of the pump shot and that would also help lean the mixture a bit.

Note the A/F ratio at the point of bog.
