I am looking to go back to my stock hood from the custom hood that is on the car. I have the hood, the only problem is someone put a different intake that is higher then normal. I was wondering if anyone knew of any low profile air cleaners that i could look into switching to.
i picked up a drop base a/c at carlisle, delco # 141-302, i needed just teh base, and put a pontiac type top on it for my 56,,, gets about an inch of clearance...
Best bet is getting a stock housing(doesn't need to be from a Vette) putting in some ovaled 4" collars, and running flex hosing to in front of the radiator housing for fresh air. Probably one the best mods you can do, for cruising on hot summer days. Maybe even bump flex hose size down a bit if needing to.
I suppose I should have also mentioned the carb is an edelbrock with an electric choke, will these fit with the choke on the side?
You will probably need another intake for stock BB hood.
I run Holleys, have an Edelbrock catalog & had noticed NOTE for Edelbrock carbs. below so it will be a little higher than w/ Holley.

NOTE: #1207 is stock height and requires spacer #8092 with electric choke carbs or banjo fitting #8089 with manual choke carbs. #1221 fits all Edelbrock square-bore carbs and Q-jets (3/8" taller than #1207).

No offense - but don't blame you for wanting to go back - That hood is like 'Corvette Summer'.
