Default oh yes you can ...

i've never stored them back in the bags. too much time and always afraid of dropping them. if you place a small thick pillow in between them one on top of they'll be just fine. this is for glass tops only! you will want to stow painted tops in their respective bags. there is not enough room to stack them side by side flat.

Thanks for the info, I have the bags but they need a visit with a sewing machine, the seems are loose. The bags are an exact fit, very snug!!

There's always a chance of dropping or bumping them every time you remove them. I agree the bags can be difficult. What I do is leave the bag in the cargo area open and slide the top in after I remove it. The 79-82 passenger seat folds flat so there's plenty of room to maneuver.

My 82 didn't have the bags with it so I bought the "suitcase". It has a padded pillow that fits between the tops. I've never tried to store the tops side by side as there doesn't appear to be enough space. My tops are glass by the way.

baby crib comforter is good too. just lay one down in the back cover with comforter and lay the other on top. not to big and especially nice when your girl (especially wifey) gets cold. and it has to have the cross flags sewn in ... of course!
