It's a scam. I got one very similar when I posted my Jaguar on CL. That's the problem with CL, too many scammers surfing for someone gullible. Any time I post an ad now I specifically state that I will not answer e-mails without full contact info (name, phone,etc.).
For sure.
I got the same basic letter, but he was a "Sailor in the Navy" out at sea.
Wanted to buy the Vette for his son. Told him the only way he was getting possession of the vette was by cash.
Never heard from him again.

What is the scam? Do they actually take your vette and screw you on the payment? Usually these scammers don't want a car, they just want your money. He invites you to open a new paypal account. Then what happens? (Clearly, 100% scam. I just wonder how it works)

Reads like a classic Nigerian Buyer Scam to me. Scamming seems that nation's leading export, where there is even a popular song about taking victims' money called "I Go Chop Your Dollars". Flags include poor use of caps, punctuation and grammar, his overt eagerness to jump all over the deal without question or negotiation, the repetitive mention of his employment situation which makes direct contact impossible. And, most prominently is the necessary enlistment of a pick up agent and pick up agreement; the latter of which will most certainly have you fronting money to the pick up agent...
I wouldn't advise any reply, but I'm sure your local LEO/LEA would direct you to the proper channels if you wish to get this in the right hands.

He will send a phony payment paypal email confirmation along with the amount due for shipping and the fee for the agent. The seller will be asked to then take the money from paypal and pay both of those fees with the buyers paypal money.
They will get your car and you will pay them to do it.
As far as how fast it was replied to....there are craigslist programs that you can run that will tell you when a certain item is listed. He probably had corvette on the list and the second you posted it he got the notification of it.
I am a very wealthy and deathly sick Nigerian Prince who wishes to will my billions of dollars to you. What's wrong with that, don't Nigerian princes mow lawns?
I sometimes wonder how many Nigerian princes there are and if they all work in the internet equivalent of a call center.
