Default 1968 Smog

Were all 1968 327/300hp Vettes equiped with a smog pump? If some were and some weren't, how can I find out if the one I'm restoring had one? Thanks, Jason

All 68 and 69 Corvettes were equipped with A.I.R. systems.

1968 pumps had part number 7801135. The '68 is different from '69s (except some early '69 units) in that they had the visable pressure relief valves on the top of the case.

You can still get replacements at Rockauto.com. Not a perfect NCRS replacement, but good enough.

AIM pages show 19000. That means all cars, coupe or convertible, big block or small, got the AIR stuff.

.....also, if I'm remembering correctly, all '69 L-88s used the '68 style A.I.R. pump for whatever reason.

Hey Steve, where is that part #?(7801135)

I know they were all cast with 7801149 on the rear of the pump right? That number was used well in to the 70's. I'll have to check mine when I get home but I could have sworn it's a 1149.

The 1149 cast is on the backside and is found on a lot of pumps including non-Corvettes if I remember right.

1135 is found under the fan, as is 5650 for '69.
