install new outer window seal

Hello.
Is it possible to remove the old outer window seal, and install the new with the window in the door, or must i remove the window?

I believe the glass has to come out.

I did mine with the window in, took off the inner panel, took the 2 screws out of the door weatherstrip ends , took the end screws out the outer seals and pop the old seals out. Reverse to install new seals.

You might be able to move the lower stops in the window channels and let the door glass ease down below the top edge of the door.

Loosen or remove the two felt covered brackets (the official name escapes me) on top after removing the door panel. that will let the window move to the inside of the door enough to easily R&R the outer felts. Just put them back the way they came out or the window will either rattle or be very slow while operating.
