I have all the available factory power option on my 75 vert., including the rear window defroster(hair dryer style).
I made an assumption that it would have automatically come with a HD battery, and listed it in the registry as such. I want to remove it if there is the possibility that it didn't. Also, It would effect the alternator # if I decide to replace it with the correct one -which I will need if I get the A/C fixed.
Anyone know the answer to this?
I'm missing what exactly your question is. Is this a judging question ? I'm thinking a battery today is HD in comparison to back then.
I believe in cheap and "fresh".

Thanks Roger. No, I'm mainly trying to determine if the car would have come with it, as don't have any paperwork, and don't want to misrepresent it on the registry etc., .... and to get the correct #rd. alternator sometime. Won't be judged with me, but maybe someone else someday.
The cheapest piece of junk made today will be better than the best battery available in 1975.
You probably had to check water levels in the factory original battery from back then.
I don't quite get it either?
Are you also looking for an original alternator too or just worried whether a certain battery will effect your alternator (which it won't)?
I put a mid grade Duralast battery from Autozone in my '75 when I bought and just replaced it this summer after 11 years of use. Probably would have lasted longer if I actually took care of it by not letting it drain every winter during storage.
I got over 15 years out of a top of the line Duralast in another car of mine.

Hmm... trying to think of a tell tale sign but can't come up with anything right now.
I'll bet some of the guys can come up with something, although it might only be something like an alternator which could have been changed.
PM Mike Ward , he might know.
My research to date has been inconclusive, it seems the dealer order form would tell the complete tale of whether an HD battery was mandatory with any other option. I'm hoping to dig up an order form to move forward on this.
The only 'absolute' inclusion I can find so far for HD batteries was when a BB engine was ordered, not that this applies to '75s.
