I have a 1980 L48 corvette. I purchased it from a neighbor friend and it had been sitting in his driveway undriven for nearly 3 years. The car has 65k on it and I recently drove it for the first time on the expressway. Car pulled to the right. I suspect it needs a frontend alignment because i have recently redone the brakes and they do not drag on rotors or leak.
The car was extremely difficult to drive and it drove really hard. I have included some pics for you all to review. Do you think that the front and rear suspension need to be rebuilt with new rubber bushings and are there any tests that I can do to see if the shocks are worn out? I push up and down on the vehicle and it seems responsive and does not bounce like a ball.
Need suggestions, opinions and thoughts on information offered and pics.
There is dry rot on the spring bushings but cannt see much else. How are are upper and lower control arm bushings, split and dry? How are the idler arm, tie rods, center link, etc.
Mine pulls left, but I add a little right steering and it tracks. I think the quote to fix it was 1-2k for replacing all that stuff underneath, and suspension. Mine looks same as yours, less rust party though.
When I drove my newly purchased '80 Vette home 2 years ago, it was all over the road. I couldn't keep the car traveling in a straight line. Once the body was off I saw why. All of the rubber suspension bushings were hard as rock/cracked/split and otherwise completely destroyed. I expected this so I wasn't P.O.'d. Replacing them with poly bushings was a piece of cake.
