this is the liquidation of the "corvette man" his name was allan something. he died about 4 months ago or so after a very short battle with cancer. he was amazing in that his place looked like it was inhabited by a hermit, stuff everywhere. the building is very large (deep) it appears to go back almost a full block and you would drive by it every day of the week and not pay it much mind. it's on SW 2nd ave in ft lauderdale. the guy knew exactly what he had and exactly where in all the confusion to find it. i used him a lot for stuff i just couldn't find elsewhere. he almost always had at least one to choose from. when he passed away, his brother(s) and other relatives were overwhelmed by what they came upon. they were uncertain if they were going to try to keep the business going or do something else. i guess it has come down to doing something else. it was called the corvette center. the old website is still up here: corvettecenter.8k.com. it's a real shame it is going the way of the wind. it is the second (and last) used parts house in the area to fold in the last year. if you are looking for something you haven't been able to find you will more than likely find it here in this sale.
I never knew about this place. I live in Vero Beach and search for parts on craigslist all the time in S. Florida to avoid huge freight charges. Its says bring your truck and sold by lots only. Well I need a "lot" of parts just not a "lot" of any one thing. I am going to email a list of parts and see what they say.
I stay in Juno Beach. I have driven south on 95. I recall a corvette parts place on the right side around Ft. Lauderdale. I never visited the place.
I would assume that the estate was not liquid. If the poor guy had cancer, he probably used up his cash on his illness. The executor or administrator would incur personal liablity to run the business. It is cheaper to just trash the inventory. I am sure a well intended person with deep pockets could inject his retirement plan or home equity and just wait for the customers to line up with their cash.
The South Florida economy is in bad shape. People can't pay their mortgages, I doubt they have money to invest in hobby businesses. Everybody in South Florida is counting down the days until Baroke Bummer loses the election.
