Default Heater core box removal

Have an 1982 Corvette and I am replacing heater core because of it leaking. I have the box loose but for some reason the upper right hand corner of the box is stuck and will not let me pull the box out. I have all four bolts out that hold it in. Any suggestions on what it might be that's holding it in "O" and by the way it has air condition

from my shop manual for 1980,
1. disconnect battery ground cable. drain radiator. do not purge refrigerant from the system.
2.disconnect heater hoses at core connections and plug core tubes to prevent coolant spillage.
3.remove nuts from the distributor studs on the engine side of the dash panel.
4.remove the right hand dash pad and the center instrument cluster. remove dash braces.
5 disconnect right dash outlet duct from center duct. remove screws attaching center duct to selector duct and remove center duct.
6. remove screws attaching selector duct to dash panel and pull selector rearward and to the right. once clearance is obtained, remove the bowden cables and wire connectors.
7.remove selector duct from the vehicle. remove temperature door camming plate from the selector duct. remove core and core housing.
8.to install, reverse steps 1-7 above.

i think there might be a nut holding that corner from the engine compartment. good luck!
i think your at step 6.

Draining the radiator is not a must especially if you have good coolant in the system.

If you don't want to change the coolant you can clamp off the hoses below the tubes before you remove them. We have special hose clamps that pinch off the hose below the actual clamp and we use these clamps about four inches below the end of the core tubes. Then you only lose a tiny bit of the coolant.

I've never tried using anything else because I have these little gadgets that work great... but I've had customers use Channel Loc's on the hose to change it. I'm not so sure I would use these since they could cut in to the hose... Just some food for thought.

Are you sure you got all the nuts off the box.. I don't remember 100 percent, but isn't there a bolt on the lower outer side and not a nut? Someone help me on this.. its been to long. Number 4 in the picture.

Here is the Aim Picture...

The other thing I see with this is the removal of the right dash pad... not going to happen and probably a carry over from the 1968-1977 years...

The center shift plate and the dash bezel do have to come out and I have instructions on the web site for dash pad removal that will help you get to that point. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=263 just click on supporting documentation.

Mine is a 1974 but perhaps you also have this stud (below the switch) on the firewall side. It is often overlooked.
