Default 1974 L82 Question

Hi, I recently purchased an all original (sat for 20 years) L82. It has an automatic transmission. I read some literature that only show an L82 having a 4-speed from the factory. Does someone know if they came with automatics?

I'm not sure what you mean by source. I just purchased the 1974 L82 - the vin has a 4 in the 6th digit, so it definately is an L82. But, there's an automatic in the car, so I just wasn't sure how to determine if the transmission is factory installed or maybe dealer installed?

L-82 engine code CLD, 350cid, 250hp, automatic transmission.

L-82 engine code CLH, 350cid, 250hp, automatic transmission, California emissions.

Check the suffix on the engine pad.

That's the source I was referring to. The page is incomplete, Paul has supplied the missing engine codes for the L82/auto, it's also missing CWT for LS4 w/4 speed California.

It's a nice year. I enjoy mine. But if it sat for 20 years you may have some work ahead.

Nice car. Yeah, i have a lot of work to do. its all original, and the parts look to be in great shape, even the dash and leather seats have no visible cracks. The body bushings are so dried out its crazy. But, no rust, and the body looks perfect - except for its missing the rear bumper cover, and the front bumper looks a little messed up. its original paint Corvette Orange, and has some dealer 70s style yellow stripe along the side and hood.

The urethane bumpers just fall apart with age. It sounds like you have a good foundation on which to build!
