I was checking the rear for noise. My question is with the car jacked up and lowering it so the half shafts are level, and yes out of gear, should i be able to turn the tires/rotors freely? I was thinking a problem with the emergency brakes not releasing. I noticed that even running in gear the wheels took a little pedal to spin.I checked and the calipers were'nt enaging. Any and all answers will be appreciated, thanks
You are not supposed to run the drivetrain with the rear suspension completely dropped. The half shafts are not designed to do this and you will not be able to freely turn it by hand. What is the actual problem you are trying to resolve?
Thanks for the reply Mel. I did state that I had the rear leveled so the half shafts we're straight. I was checking on a noise from the right rear. I wasn't expecting not being able to turn the wheels without a lot of effort, but it may be normal. I'm not sure is why I asked, thanks again
Mike, with the car jacked up and the shafts level, I can stick a large screwdriver into the rotor slots and barely move it. The emergency brakes not releasing properly was my first thought?

Reason: spelling
Can you get to the star wheel for the brake and back off the adjustment? Should be a hole in the rotor when aligned at 6 o'clock which permits access to the wheel.

When mine started making strange noises, it turned out to be a broken spring (lower) on the right rear parking brake shoes.
