Just a quick question or two
One..is there a way to tell if my diff already has a heavy duty cover ? How do you tell the difference.
Two.. i have decided against rebuilding the diff on my own and have looked at a couple of sources for a rebuilt for my car. This will be a driver (infrequent), so don't need anything to special. Zip corvette parts looks very reasonable, but all ratio's are currently out of stock but will be avaiable to ship at the end of the month.
Any expeience with their parts guys ??
The bosses (ears) for the spring perch bolts are thicker, as is the webbing between them, than on a standard cover. Hard to see through all the rust, but this is a stock cover (with one ear broken off!):
Got my heavy duty cover from Muskegon Brake. It is a nice piece and well worth the money
Don't know what the big secret is. The guy in question is Gary Ramadei and is a former poster here who goes by GTR1999 on many other boards. Top quality work.

Then why dont you post his phone number, address in conn. , and link to other websites where he visits & is a supporting vendor. Very easy for you to do.
gary is great and probably has the best reputation in the nation... but is not the cheapest by any means. if you are looking for a infrequent driver then a stock rebuild with USA bearings and clutch packs will get you a good 100K miles. the 800$ pumpkins you find at most of the big corvette parts houses will do you just fine.
We are very reasonable, but not because we have to be, because that is who Zip Products is and customer service is our #1 priority. Also every ratios gear wise is here, we would love to stock every ratio diff built, but every one is sold as soon as it is built so stocking them has been impossible. Currently we are running about 2-3 weeks out on a new order. So don't expect a diff to pop up in stock at the end of the month, it will be sold before it actually hits the shelf. If you place the order, it will be approx 2 weeks before we ship it out. We build these in house along with Trailing arms, steering box's, transmissions, distributors, and all the diffs from the 53-12 including alll of our race diffs, so we are extremely busy with this, which has made putting them on the shelf impossible for us. We offer a 3yr unlimited mileage warranty on the differential.
Thanks
