I found a pair of shorty header that are aluminum anyone know any reasons why I should or shouldnt buy aluminum? I also found a pair of ceramics but they are a couple hours away don't wanna drive that what do you guys think they are a hundred bucks an the first pair is supposed to have come off an elcamino
I hope you mean "aluminum coated", as Pontiac tried a few sets of really trick, lightweight exhaust manifolds on their '62 Super Duty cars. The manifolds barely lasted beyond quarter mile drag races, as the extreme heat started to melt them.
Secondly, I highly doubt that headers for an El Camino would fit a Corvette chassis.

Question is should I or shouldn't I buy shorty headers?
And the answer is no.
Your going to have to get exhaust work to hook them up to some exhaust pipes anyway so just get longtube headers and get alot more power and they are easy to install.
Some use tubular manifolds to replace stock manifolds. There are shorty headers, though some say they melt the motor mounts.
3/4 length will work for mild setups: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...s-on-jegs.html
