Located a nice set of Goodyear 255/60R-15's. Question is will these tires have any clearence issues mounted on my 73'. Bought the car with mis-matched tires though my guess is the car originally had 235/70R-15's. Any advise would be appreciated as I would like to go to the 255/60's if possible.
The best answer is...they may fit without issues. It seems to be a car by car thing if tires that wide will fit properly.
The original size tires for a '73 was GR70-15. The current metric equivalent is P225/70R15. P255/60R15 tires weren't authorized as an optional tire until the '78 model year when some changes were done to the quarter panels.
You won't have any problem with the rear's...the front's will rub on the inside frame but, only when you make a very hard turn, such as a u-turn or K turn. Other than that I had no issues with mine and liked them.

Every car is different, because the height of the car inevitably changes (highter or lower) over the years. I have 225/70R 15's
Thanks to all for the responses. Hopefully these tires won't have interference issues other than front tire contact to frame on hard turns. I'll let you all know how they work out as I pick-up the tires tomorrow.
Hey all,
Bought and installed the P255/60sr15's on the OEM rims and they do not have any clearance problems and look great on the 73'. Thanks again to all for the input.
