So if I build some new harnesses, I have to have the factory type headlight plug? I am reading up on this and asking questions because I never really tinkered with the lights in all these years, but now I want to do one of Dan Stern's upgrades, with a new heavier gauge harness, yet keep the optics working, etc. Thanks for the info. If I buy new optics parts? Where do I get factory plugs, etc?

I'm running the 55w hids in the 4500k color.

Search, there are some that have done projector hids and some that just upgraded to some non sealed beam lamps with regular halogens.

Hi BlueGTP...i know this thread is a little old... but... arent the outer lights always just low beam...then when you switch to hi beam... you get all 4 on.???

So.. i bought 2 kits like the below off ebay... and once installed..i was hoping to get the 2 outer ones on..during low beam...and then all 4 on with hi beam..

the only switch i want to make is to upgrade from 35w ballasts and bulbs to 55w's in all low and high...

am i wrong here on how the outer and inner bulbs on an 82 c3 work??

Good relays (I used 2 Hella 40Amps) are $9 on summit racing. I went to autozone and got 3 rolls of their 12gauge wire. I think they are little over 10 ft each roll. You might need more depending on where you put the relays. Then you will need two 10 or 12gauge inline fuses, and a piece of 8gauge wire to go from the alternator stud to the inline fuses. Add a few more $$ if you dont have little things like spade connectors for the relays, heatshrink tubing, solder, etc... Shouldnt be over $50

Heres my setup... Could use some cleaning up, but it works well for now. I have my fan relays here to. All incoming power is fed through a 4gauge wire from the alternator, junctioned at the horn relay, and fed to the relays through 10gauge inline fuses
An easy way of creating this bank of relays is to use ARC p/n 1440, which has 4 relays plus integrated ATO fuses for each relay. I used this when I put euro headlights in my XJ6 and it worked and was easy. I got the part from JEG'S.
