Since you are traveling that distance, I would stay for the complete show. Be there Thursday and stay through close on Sunday.

Friday and Saturday are alwasy the busiest days. The road tour is on Saturday night. Typically a lot of the swap meet vendors ten to start packing up early and heading out pretty early on Sunday.

A couple of years back they added a Survivor show that is open to all makes and models so there a some more people in attendance now. It used to be pretty quiet on Sundays.

Not recently. I know that it is slow on Sundays but they have added an all makes survivor show on Sunday afternoon.

The main thing is that if I am traveling that far I would recommend staying for everything; the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Bloomington has changed, it is now a come and go show. Drive in for the day and then head home. The town has such limited hotels that those that are staying are spread out over several towns which hurts to social aspects of the show.

When the show was in Springfield we would make a week vacation of it. Spend a couple or three days getting there, maybe go by the factory and museum on the way, and arrive on Wednesday night. Thursday would be all day workshops. Then the show on Friday Saturday Sunday with the road tour on Sunday and the awards also on Sunday.

Back then the show and the hobby was all about building your Vette. You would spend the time on the swap meet looking for that one part that you needed. Today the focus is on the Auctions. The hobby has changed to one where you buy the Vette you want. You no longer get your hands dirty, you just write a check. You can really see the change in focus in the Thursday workshops. They were hands on showing how to paint, do body work, rebuild the suspension, etc. Now they are on how to buy the car and how to pick the best one to buy. I would like to see the old workshops come back, but…..
